First ever sweater

I've put it off for a good three years, but finally decided to bite the bullet and begin my first sweater! My search-criteria for a sweater pattern basically consisted of something "not frumpy" and not too complex either. I think this pattern looks like a winner and will serve me well in all seasons (especially in Maine when you can legitimately wear a sweater all months of the year). I just ordered the yarn online and if this turns out well, it will have been a very economical investment in my wardrobe. I'll keep you posted....

Here's a link to the pattern.

A Great Hat for Guys

Often it can be downright hard to find the perfect pattern for a guy's winter hat. Well, this year I found one that I absolutely love! I ended up making three of these hats and plan on doing more next fall. They are incredibly quick to knit and fit well on most heads (no cone-head effect). I also like how you can mix and match colors with the striping...giving you the perfect chance to use up that odd ball of yarn lying around the house. Kudos to the male knitter who created this gem!

Babies on the Brain

As I approach my late-twenties, my circle of friends has begun to include babies and babies-on-the-way. Every knitter knows that babies are the most fun to knit for....these small, delicate pieces are inevitably adorable and instantly gratifying. This spring and summer I have two friends to knit baby items for...our good friends Ben & Deb who are expecting a girl any day now and my knitting group friend Joan who is expecting a boy in July. Let the baby knitting begin!
